The purpose of this Ministry is to strengthen the bond of fellowship among the singles here at Living Word, to encourage one another in the light of God’s Word and to reach out and bring in other singles. This ministry is geared toward young adults between the ages of 18 and 29.
We have meetings on 2nd Saturdays unless otherwise noted for special outings. These meetings mainly consist of activities and various outings indespersed with times of prayer and sharing throughout the year, where we talk about issues young people deal with in life. Whether it’s checking out a Christian Jazz festival, bowling, ice skating, or volunteering at hospitals or homeless shelters, we strive to make culturally geared outings to broaden our sense of diversity and understanding.
Adult Women’s Fellowship
Adult Women’s Fellowship
This fellowship is designed for women of like faith to enjoy one another’s company in activities such as bowling, attending plays, and dinner outings. It is our goal to uplift one another through acts of thoughtfulness, both spiritually and naturally, in ways such as cards of encouragement, small tokens/presents, and honoring birthdays. In this way we are building an atmosphere of strong fellowship and support to women in the body of Christ.
Our purpose is the development of real fellowship between all the brethren inside and outside the church. As a ministry we will recognize our strengths and weaknesses, develop our leadership abilities, and act on our responsibilities in the church. Men will be helped to become committed in church attendance, as well as in service to the Pastoral leadership. We also strive to develop and improve the relationship between the men and the children, in order to solidify our position as role models.
Some of the avenues to accomplishing the vision include men’s mentoring sessions on 4th Wednesdays, special services and seminars, and taking college courses through our Christian college.
Proverbs 27:17 NKJV
As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
“I thank God for the men’s ministry, and how this fellowship of brothers made the difference in my life. I really can’t say where I would be if it were not for the influence of my brother’s who have had like struggles, dreams, setbacks, desires, and life goals. Together we have seen great victories in life, and looking forward to more…” Pastor R. Smith
The youth ministry here at Living Word places a high value on the arts and community projects. We want to open young people up to the different things that God has placed in them and learn how to use those skills for the building up of the Kingdom of God. We are teaching our youth to have a foundation of prayer and studying and really hone in on their relationship with God. A connection with the creator is amazing and powerful and they are offered the opportunity to really show that to the people in the community and in their work. The time is always right for youth to rise up in all the gifts God has blessed them with.
As part of our community outreach we feed the needy on 4th Saturdays, with the anticipation of expanding to more frequent times in the near future as the ministry grows. We are partners with PADS, a south suburban inter-faith program providing shelter and supportive services to homeless persons, and also make occasional trips to Chicago to offer our assistance at homeless shelters. Our goal is to make a genuine impact for good on the homeless and hunger situation that affects our community by extending the love of Christ to our brothers and sisters.
In addition to our in-house outreach programs are our evangelism outreach to the Senior Citizens Home with God’s word as well as Street ministry and ministry at the Swap – Arama. As doors open for Evangelistic Outreach, we enter them with praise to God. We invite you to join us in our endeavors to reach the lost for the sake of Christ.
